ICWA commemorates the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar

The ICWA held a public meeting on the 24th Of March, 2024, at the Newton branch of the Surrey Public Library, to celebrate the revolutionary lives of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru. The meeting was very well attended. Several speakers spoke on this occasion, sharing their own perspectives and understanding of the lives and sacrifices of these  revolutionaries, the HSRA (Hindustan Socialist Republican Association), the revolutionary organization they were associated with, and how the writings and ideas of Bhagat Singh find resonance and are relevant even today, 93 years after his martyrdom.

Gracing the occasion was the MLA for Surrey-Panorama, and friend of the ICWA, Ms. Jinny Simms. Ms. Simms spoke about how she, like many others, was inspired by the lives and ideas of Bhagat Singh and his revolutionary comrades as a young person. Also attending the meeting were friends from the Revolutionary Communist Party, who spoke about how the memory of Bhagat Singh, who was staunchly secular and progressive, was being hijacked by the right wing in India, for petty electoral gains.
